Ascent Trip ReportKeith, Dean, Daryn and I followed Josef Nuernberger's driving track (I wasn't able to download it from Peakbagger, but fortunatly Dean did not have that problem) to drive from Highway 70 to the the trailhead located along the 4x road northwest of the summit. I recommend that climbers park at the saddle where Richard Carey parked on his ascent of the peak because the upper road is extremely rugged and steep. Our group walked up the upper road and then the trail to the ridge, then slugged it out contouring over and up through the steep, brush infested slope covered with about 8" of snow to the easy third class gully that leads to the top. Dean was the only sensible person in our group and turned around at about 8000' in elevation while the three remaining die hard peakbaggers continued onto the summit. |
