Ascent Trip Reportattached driving track. the road really is deteriorating, there are a couple washouts which won't last many more seasons, and which will make the hike considerably longer. i don't recommend driving further than i did here, this is the last spot to park before some sketchy steep stuff... steep stuff which lead to us having to extract one of the vehicles from. shovel and tow strap to the rescue.
some day i might write about what's going on with me, but the quick summary is: i'm burned out on peakbagging... i like the hiking, but i'm finding myself frustrated, bored, and just plain uninterested in finishing a number of the crappy prominence peaks, which can't really be called "hiking". i thought maybe i'd have issue on the rock on this peak, but the truth is i didn't even want to deal with steep side-hilling through brush, with snow on the ground. given that i've already turned back on babo, mohawk, and didn't even want to bother with pinnacle ridge (which the others did the day before turnbull) i'm not likely to finish AZ P2k. that's fine: i've got a new idea... make a list of the top 400 by prominence with trails (almost) to the top! |
