Ascent Trip ReportGPS Track shows our convoluted hike for the day: Started at Timberlin Park main parking lot adjacent to Hart Pond. Followed the Green Trail to the first stream crossing (green truss bridge), and coming off the slick incline at the end, I slipped and went down butt-first onto my left elbow, notching a good bruise. Left the Green Trail, and bushwhacked in a westerly zigzag up to the height of land to intersect with the Metacomet Trail. Followed the Metacomet Trail on a side trip north to Carey Street and up to the south cliff of Ragged Mountain. We had snacks and drinks out of the wind, then descended back to Carey Street, and then south and back up to the point we intersected with the Metacomet. We then continued along the Metacomet to the crest of Short Mountain, then down around and back to the green trail and back to the car.
