Ascent Trip ReportParked at the end of Highland Drive, 39.010403, -120.122858. Parked on the shoulder, no parking ticket but there was no snow removal going on either. My Subaru Outback made it to the parking lot, but the icy road conditions stopped my friends in a 2WD compact car.
Skin track up started from the water tank just up the hill. The skin track is quite steep, around 25 degrees in some parts. The summit rocks are easy class 3, manageable in ski boots if you search around on the SW side for the easiest route. But with all the snow & ice, I wouldn't call it class 2. We saw probably 10 other people at the summit, decent crowd for a Sunday.
Awesome tree skiing on the way down. Deserves the hype given by the guidebooks, and would make awesome storm day skiing if you could figure out parking.
