Ascent Trip Report

Access: South Wolfpen Ridge is accessed from the same parking lot as Brasstown Bald, so they should be done together. See my trip report for Brasstown Bald for some important fee information.

The Climb: After returning from Brasstown Bald, I stopped to take a drink of water from my car and then continued to the southern end of the parking lot where I got on Jacks Knob Trail. Following this trail will take you to the South Wolfpen Ridge summit, which is a slab of rock sticking out of the ground just north of the marker on Peakbagger. There was no benchmark or register, so make sure to have a GPS marker of some kind.

My Thoughts: After the craziness of Brasstown Bald, this quick hike felt like a secluded paradise. The only other people I saw were an elderly couple who only ventured a short way up the trail. The summit is forested so there are no views, but this was a fine way to cap off a four Georgia 4,000 footer day.

I am always looking for climbing partners, so feel free to contact me if you want to team up.
