Ascent Trip ReportParked on the road nearby. Found a track from the road which went north-west through the scrub, but found it kept going north-west away from the peak. I cut north-east to the top of the ridge-way. Saw a couple of walkers with poles so followed them up the scramble to the top. Steeper and harder work than southern peak, but not particularly technical. I should of done it in boots, but my luggage was still in transit so I did it in Adidas trainers.
From the top of the peak you get a great view in all directions; you can see Mulhacen and Veleta in the distance and the whole of the ski resort.
At the top there is a sharp drop to the south side, which you can't get down unless you are roped, so I made my way down from the north-westerly side. Headed down about half-way back to the road and then traversed across to the central peak of the three.
You should ideally wear a helmet for this because there are sections of the scramble that pass under overhanging rocks and there are Ibex about. Who knows if they will kick off some stones from up above. |
