Ascent of The Bald on 2019-12-27
|Others in Party:||Brogan Dillmore|
|Date:||Friday, December 27, 2019|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Location:||USA-North Carolina/Tennessee|
| Elevation:||4657 ft / 1419 m|
Ascent Trip ReportFollowed Tom Layton and Jeff Branin's excellent trip reports. Just a couple notes from our hike:
We parked at the junction of Seasons Drive and Bear Track Lane. My Outback could have made it further, but the mountain laurel growing along Bear Track Lane could scratch your paint pretty good.
The left fork mentioned in Jeff's report is now posted, as is the NC side of the land on the ridgeline. Still easy to keep out of posted areas. We still managed to come down the left fork accidentally with no issues.
The steps are still nailed into the tree at the summit, but it was cloudy and not worth the ascent for the views.
