Ascent Trip Report

This was the first mountain I chose to attempt because of its prominence. On the way down from the summit I had an accident that tore the outer quad muscle on my right leg. We called 911 and a rescue was started around 4PM, and back then March 13 was still standard time, so it would be getting dark quite quickly. Once my companions got me back up on my feet I devised a method of making progress by keeping that knee straight. I could move and stay warm, but it was painful and slow. Long story short, we got back down to FR18 before dark, but kept moving along the road until the SAR guys got there with their snowmobiles and the sled I was to ride in. We still had about 4 miles to go before hitting bare road where our vehicle was parked. It was the only time I've had to be rescued, but not the only time I've been injured on a hike.
