Ascent Trip ReportClimbed on an open weekend in early December, weather was warm in the 60s and 70s and quite windy. After checking it, it's about a 30 minute drive down the dirt road to the trail head. Don't worry about missing the trailhead, it's literally the end of the road and very obvious. The vast majority of the road is not very rough at all, just worth driving slowly. The last quarter mile definitely needs high clearance, but again, it's the last quarter mile, so it wouldn't be difficult to park and walk it. Overall, this was an easy peak to grab. The majority of the hike is on an old road. It's steep in sections, but has plenty of less steep sections too. I ascended via the chute and came down the road. The chute definitely was more scenic and I recommend it, as it is less steep and won't take much longer. The road is steep, but isn't very lengthy. There is a short and sweet easy scramble to the summit at the very end. It took me an hour and a half to summit and an hour to get down. If you're a fit hiker, you should have no problem doing this one in less than 4 hours if you wanted. Also, since they close the gates at 4 pm, they apparently don't let people start hiking later than 11 am, even though it wouldn't take most people that long. Keep that in mind when planning.
