Ascent Trip Report

First hike this year where I didn't encounter snow. Started at the AMC up to Avalon for a quick lunch. Caught the cog railway going up Washington. Little puffs of black smoke along the ridge, like looking back in time. Then onto Field, which I stood on earlier this year in sub-zero temps. Easy hike over the saddleback to Willey. Descent from Willey down to the road was steep. Walked back along the road back to the car -- probably the most dangerous part of the day.

I am very grateful to whomever axed through the blowdowns, which seemed numerous. I imagine it would have been quite a different experience on the descent if not for this.
