Ascent Trip Report

Took the Scenic trail. A few inches of snow and some ice, tough to follow as it was not broken out. It was very arduous. Not enough snow for snowshoes on the very rocky terrain. Used Kahtoolahs and Hillsound trail crampons. Made it just past Outlook 4, which was a little over 6 miles and 5 1/2 hours (about 3 miles was the road hike from parking area, then a section with little elevation along Ausable River). Knowing it would be dark if we continued to summit, we turned back. Still hit dark on road hike back for a bit. Views from Outlooks were beautiful. Elevation reached is approximate, didn't record.
