Ascent of Dutton Cliff on 2010-07-30Others in Party: | Krystal Wanberg ----Only Party on Mountain | Date: | Friday, July 30, 2010 | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | Peak: | Dutton Cliff | Location: | USA-Oregon | Elevation: | 8147 ft / 2483 m |
Ascent Trip ReportThe ascent of this peak was very similar to that of Llao Rock, albeit longer and with more gain. This is an open country trek up a broad pumice ridge. A more direct ascent from Sun Notch MAY be possible, although it would undoubtedly involve some class 3 (perhaps 4) scrambles. An ascent from the Kerr Valley (NE) side is not recommended, as it would almost certainly require class 5 climbing on remarkably unstable rock. we started up from an unmarked pull-off to the SE of the summit, and that is probably the best/easiest way up. |
