Ascent Trip ReportStarting from Clingmans Dome Road, I went down the Road Prong trail 0.7 miles to a small tributary stream obscured by large fallen trees to the north. I accented the west flank through medium dense rhodo until ~5100 ft where it was impenetrable. I dropped down slightly, and went west about 400 feet across another ravine. From here on, it was basically open or slightly dense woods with a few scattered down trees. About 2 hours to the summit including about 50 minutes thrashing in the rhodo for the first 1/4 mile.
On return, I decided to head further southwest along the ridge before descending. Again, fairly open woods until I hit a drainage where the last 0.2 miles was thick. This drainage was about 600 feet west of where I started the ascent. About 2 hours return.
