Ascent of Bighorn Mountain Wilderness High Point on 2019-11-13Others in Party: | Kelley Laxamana ----Only Party on Mountain | Date: | Wednesday, November 13, 2019 | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | Peak: | Bighorn Mountain Wilderness High Point | Location: | USA-California | Elevation: | 7560 ft / 2304 m |
Ascent Trip ReportFrom Highway 18, Kelley and I drove in about 7.7 miles on Forest Road 3N03 and then FR 2N02, then turned left on FR 2N90 (Tip Top Mountain Road) and drove another 0.2 miles to where we parked the truck. The last 2 miles or so of FR 3N03 is extremely rugged and require a high clearance 4x to drive. From the truck, we walked up the road and then the trail to the top of Tip Top Mountain, tagging the wilderness high point along the way. Also, we built a cairn and left a register at the wilderness high point. Afterwards, Kelley and I drove out on FR 2N02 to Highway 38, which only requires a high clearance vehicle to drive. |
