Awesome Hike! Entered into Deanza Springs Nudist Resort and drove to office. Parked there, showed ID and paid $5 each to hike from property. Basically did Schad's Carrizo Gorge Overlook hike plus lots of extra exploring. First worked our way to the edge of the property, then along a wash, to the signed Northeast Trail. A series of single tracks, old roadbeds, and dirt roads lead to the summit area and the overlook. How great it is to be able to hike through boulder covered desert terrain on a good trail! We went past the summit first and down towards the overlook, but not all the way down to the old mine. Climbed the boulders for a view. Then back up and off trail to a large roomy boulder for our long lunch break. The view from here was amazing! I marked the waypoint on the track as Climb This Rock! Then further up and onto another boulder pile. Then to the topo coordinates, the actual summit with register is 300ft NE (Correct on LOJ). Then headed back but went off trail many times to explore caves, play around on giant boulders, and look for viewpoints. So the track reflects all our off route antics. Back at the start of the Northeast Trail we continued on the Peyote Trail and looped around back to the car parked at the office. So much fun scrambling around today!
