Ascent Trip ReportHike in on MST from Soco Gap. About a mile in on the MST brings you west of the summit of Campbell, and the bushwhacking begins. The MST swings around a large west-facing ravine, and at the head of this ravine is a relatively open but steep access to the ridgeline. I stepped off the MST at 305426mE 3929637mN. If you go straight up at this point you'll hit an old logging road that doesn't appear on the USGS topo. Follow this road south until you are just below and west of the summit, then bushwhack up from there to the summit. Topo map indicates a monument, but there is none in evidence unless it is under the remains of a large tree trunk that is across what appears to be the high point. |
