Ascent Trip ReportWe kept trying to dodge the late October weather and were concerned that a storm would drop some rain or snow that would cause the rock to be icy. We didn't have spikes. The forecast kept changing, but we got a good day. We went from the west on the Sunset Ridge trail. It's gated at the bottom so you start on the Eagle Cut Trail. Easy to follow. The route follows a lot of slabs (thus our concern about ice, but temps remained in the 40s). There were occasional piles of ice in protected places left over from the previous storm, but none that couldn't be walked around. We got to the summit in time for a minute of views, then were covered in a cloud with no view to speak of, but got some on the way down as the clouds blew here and there. Very pretty with the changing colors, although past the peak when we were there.
