Ascent Trip ReportJen and I hiked to Dorset Peak on 7/25/2010. At yesterday's hike at Mt Nancy in NH, we decided to meet at the trailhead of Dorset Peak on 7/25 around 7:30-7:40AM. I arrived there at 7:25 after driving 2 hours 10 min with very high speed from Burlington, VT.
We started hike at 7:50AM and first waypoint is previous logging Cabin which is 1.1 miles away, then, next waypoint is to reach the head path fork which we took right turn. Then, we hiked about 0.4 miles to take very steep and narrow herd path (right turn), then, we reached to summit of Dorset Peak after hiking 0.1 miles. We saw abandoned Fire Tower. Beside Fire Tower, there is very old grill.
Then, we took left turn to reach to North Dorset Peak which is the highest point of this mtn. We got there at 10:30AM or so. We took some pictures, ate some snacks, fruits etc. Then, we hiked out to the parking lot. Total hiking milesage was 6.4 miles or so and it took 4 hours 10-20 min. We seldom bushwhacking on this hike. The trails we used were either logging road, herd path or snowmobile trail. |
