Ascent Trip ReportFor a Thursday, it was a little surprising to see the parking lot at the trailhead full of vehicles, but it was also encouraging to see so many people out enjoying the mountains. The first part 1.9 miles was very easy and not much in terms of elevation gain and when I came to the turn with the sign pointing the direction of the tower and indicating 1.0 miles left to go, I was amazed at how quickly I had gotten there. The last mile is a bit more difficult with just under 3/4 of your overall elevation change occurring in this distance. Trail is in good condition and easy to follow, and it was very dry despite the recent rains. Met and spoke with several nice people on the summit and enjoyed the views from the tower. Camped out at Lewey Lake Campground that night with the intention of hiking Snowy Mt. the next morning, but the rain changed those plans.
