Ascent of East Crater on 2019-10-06
|Date:||Sunday, October 6, 2019|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||5297 ft / 1614 m|
Ascent Trip ReportI took the northeast slopes to the summit. It was cold, upper 20s, terrain was open forest easy bushwacking down low and steep frozen dirt / ash / mud for the last couple hundred feet. It was unpleasant. Views were a little disappointing. You could see five volcanoes (Rainier, Adams, St Helens, Hood, Jefferson) but the entire crater rim is lined with burned trees limiting the views. Not really recommended unless you just gotta bag more peaks. It's easy at least, if you're in the neighborhood.
