Ascent Trip ReportWe parked in the large car park at the base of Dolina Chocholowska and walked up the valley on tarmac and track to the hut. There Tobias and I left Louise and Jacob, to take the yellow route up the Bobrowiec glen onto the minor summit of Grzes. Descending off this top, we followed the gently rising ridge through dwarf pine onto Rakon, another minor summit. From there the trail up to the summit of Wolowiec, though loose and eroded, did not take that long. The view of the Slovakian plain to the south, and the High Tatra to the east, was stunning. A long gruelling descent on a cobbled trail down into Dolina Chocholowska to the hut followed. Several kilometres down from the hut, we hired bikes to complete our last 5.5km descent of this long Tatra valley. |
