Ascent Trip ReportFrom Virginia Lakes, Greenstone Lake and Frog Lakes, got on the ridge between Black Mountain and Excelsior Mountain North Peak at the earliest opportunity. Once on the ridge, strictly adhered to the ridge high point and stepped on every peaklet for fun and the great view of this part of Sierra Nevada. The weather was great, sunny without a trace of cloud, perfect for such a ridge traversal. The part to get on the ridge may be a little bit of Class 2 but once is on the ridge, the traversal is just Class 1.
