Ascent Trip Report

Access: From Boise, follow 8th Street north, where it will turn into a very good dirt road (which is labelled as Sunset Peak Road or Road 231). Follow this to Boise Ridge Road and turn right (south). Follow this for a little over a mile and find a place to park (I parked in a large turnout a bit south of the summit). At my time of visit, a low clearance sedan could get you up to Boise Ridge Road, unless you are extremely timid. Beyond this, moderate or high clearance is highly recommended, but you might still be able to get a sedan closer.

The Climb: I walked up the road a bit and left the road when I was just northwest of the peak. A quick scramble up a steep dirt slope and walking through some short brush will get you to the summit, There was a "register" there, but there was no writing utensil.

My Thoughts: Likely only of interest to county highpointers, this summit is pretty easy to bag. Its proximity to Boise also helps its cause. The "register" I mentioned was just a water bottle with a few scraps of paper and no pen. It might need an upgrade.

I am always looking for climbing partners, so if you are based in or around northern Idaho feel free to contact me.
