Ascent Trip Report

Park at end of paved road on the south side of the Black Canyon National Park. Parking area is called "High Point" but bu USGS map interpretation, and GPS measured in field, Warner Point appears to be the true high point and is just off the trail by a few feet. The highest point on this precocious ridge line is before the actual trail ending and impressive lookout.

The most impressive part of this hike and feature is that as you walk out to the point, on the left side of the trail (southern exposure is a long drop to the farm lands below) but to the right side of the ridge (northern exposure) is the record gorge drop of some 2000 feet so the river cut this crazy channel through the lifted rock and was only a few feet from penetrating all the way to the Bostwick Park lower plains at say 6900 feet but the river cut much deeper to around 5600 feet all the while when you walk this remaining ridge between them you are at elevations above 8200 feet. Not the most impressive visual feature in the park but from a physio-graphic landscape feature it is quite impressive that way.

I noticed that this database point shows up on the application meaning the phone ap must be pulling it from LOJ or other database but it shows only a prominence of 20 feet there and it clearly crosses the 100 foot threshold. Thus, I entered this into the PB database with the correct col and prominence for hikers to enjoy.
