Ascent Trip ReportTook two cable cars from Sölden to reach the top of Gaislachkogel. The summit (marked by a cross) is an easy walk / short climb from the upper cable car station. The views were very good, but somewhat limited in distance -- Gaislachkogel is a 10kft peak, but it is surrounded by other mountains that are even taller.
The James Bond "007 Elements" exhibition is located at the top of Gaislachkogel, but I did not have time to check it out. The restaurant at the top (Ice Q) was featured in one of the Bond movies.
Mountain biking is apparently very popular in this area during the summer. There were hundreds of people getting off with their bikes at the middle cable car station, and riding down rugged trails into the valley below. |
