Ascent Trip ReportClimbed in 13.5 hrs car to car. On our way up to the notch there were two smallish, not very steep snow patches we had to cross. All four of us had ice axes and approach shoes, and two of us had microspikes. The microspikes were nice but it was doable without them. Probably would have been fine with poles instead of ice axes. To climb the steeper rock up to the notch, we started on the far right and then worked our way back up and left on blocky terrain.
Once on the climb, we made a fairly large routefinding error where we descended much too far down on the left side. We traversed on easy terrain for a little while, but then ended up on loose and poorly protectable terrain to re-gain the ridge. We ended up in a bit of a shooting gallery.
I can't say for the start of the route that we accidentally bypassed, but for the rest of the route the beta seemed to pretty clearly be to stay on the very top of the ridge as much as possible - even generally climbing up and over gendarmes instead of around them. We probably never descended more than 10-15m from the ridge top.
