Ascent Trip ReportI did this "hike" as part of a New England high pointing trip. I made the grueling drive from New Jersey to a friend's house in southeastern Massachusetts on the 16th, and I wasn't particularly thrilled to be getting into a car again on the morning of this high point.
I initially drove past the high point. When you're driving down route 101 you crest a quite obvious hill, but it's somewhat difficult to tell where exactly to park and where the "trail" goes. I ended up simply parking in the grass on the side of the side of the road. There was a very short trail going off the road, and there were several different markers alongside the trail, but I made sure to stand on all of them. Eventually I came to a small field with a rock and a summit register.
This was my 25th state high point and also the state I was born in. Being half way done felt good. For each state high point I chose a metal song to listen to after I summit. For this high point I actually forgot about it, so I just had to use the first metal song I happened to listen to after the hike (which was actually like the 3rd song or so that I listened to). Anyways, my choice was Always Looking Down by Hammers of Misfortune.
