Ascent Trip Report

We had to wake up at 3 am for this hike because it was an hour drive away. I did not sleep well. We reached the parking lot at 5:15am and had to go to the overflow lot. We started up in the dark with the masses. Reaching the treeline, this one guy in a group recognized my 46r hat. This group was from CT. Another guy in said group recognized me from the hostel in Flagstaff, AZ, 2 years ago. Holy crap, small world!! Above treeline, I was full of energy and bouncing all over the place. The views were incredible. Nearby Mt Massive looked intense. At the summit, there were about 50 people. Our group didn't stay long because I was the only one with energy while everyone else was feeling the altitude. We took some quick pics and headed back down. Tomorrow was a rest day.
