Ascent of Mount Taylor on 2019-08-13Date: | Tuesday, August 13, 2019 | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | Peak: | Mount Taylor | Location: | USA-New Mexico | Elevation: | 11301 ft / 3444 m |
Ascent Trip ReportStarted at 0900 on Gooseberry trailhead, had perfect weather for most of the hike. The directions to the TH are correct on summit post. Only one other car there. The trail was much easier than expected, and beautiful. Forests, high meadows full of flowers, dryer forests, wetter forests, and the top. Made it from TH to summit in 1:10, about half what I expected so I decided to continue on to La Mosca Lookout. There’s a somewhat ugly set of antennae there, but the view from La Mosca is equal to Taylor, if not better, and made the extra 2miles to get there (4 miles round trip) worth it. Overall, this hike ended up being just over 10 miles and 4:40 minutes. |
