Ascent Trip ReportIt was Day 3 of our 2 week family road trip of the highlands and islands of Scotland. We left Oban early and stopped for breakfast by the train station in Fort William. After a brief stop to look at Eileen Donan Castle we headed to Wester Ross and drove the challenging road across the Applecross Peninsula. We stopped at the summit of the road. It was intermittently raining with brief periods of sunshine, in other words, typical Scottish weather. From the summit parking lot there is a gravel service road to a communication tower atop Sgurr a'Chaorachain North. We followed it to the summit. Nice views of the adjoining valley and in the other direction the summits of the Cuillins on the Isle of Skye. |
