This county consists of two prominent points in the ski region of the northern part of the LP.

The first area is found at the top of the Boyne Highland ski complex. Located at historic Graham Chapel, there is a BM GRAHAM in the area that is not at the highest part of the highest hill.

To reach this HP, I highly recommend finding your way to Emmet Heights Road. From the intersection of M-119 and Emmet Heights Road, travel north to the end of the pavement. Continue straight onto the wide, well paved dirt road that is still Emmet Heights Road. The last mile or so has signs pointing to Graham Chapel. Stay on this road as it continues north and then turns east and then back south before it arrives at the Graham Chapel on the left. There is also a large communications tower on the left just before you reach the chapel.

The chapel itself sits on the highest part of the hill. I found the BM eventually, but it was an adventure. I was confused by the Schuler report that said the BM was “in the grass about 100ft down beyond the chapel on the way to a radio tower”. I took this to mean that the BM would be found if you left the chapel and headed directly to the tower. WRONG. Let me clarify because I have read at least one trip report that did not locate this BM from previous reported instructions.

Starting at the Chapel corner that is nearest to the road (the walls run NE, SE, SW, and NW), I would say the tower lies NW of the Chapel. From the corner that is nearest the road, travel approx. 100ft. due W to arrive at the BM which is located near the road in the middle of a cluster of trees (i.e., a bearing 45 degrees left of a direct walk to the towers).

The Nubs Nob ski resort can be found by following the Schuler report. During the summer months, repairs and maintenance and renovations take place. I stopped at the main building to obtain a ski run map, but that really wasn’t needed. I obtained permission from two different people who said it was okay to walk up the slopes to the summit of Nubs Nob. (My request to drive to the top was rejected.)

I parked in the main lot, and I chose the Green Lift as my guide to the top. I headed out and took my time walking under the lift towers and lines. Once I arrived at the top of the Green Lift, it was a short walk to what I perceived was the highest ground under the Orange Lift. I wandered around before returning down the way I came up.
1.2mi round trip, 387ft total gain, 46min.
