Ascent Trip Report

There is a beautiful lookout, 200M north of the CA/USA Border at Chartierville, on the eastside of Hwy #257. The vista from here is outstanding, Mont Megantic dominating to the northwest. This lookout is the TH for the western terminus of the Sentiers Frontaliers, an 81km long trail that ends at Woburn, the next CA/USA Border to the east.

From the TH at Hwy #257 followed the Sentier Frontalier (rough and steep at a few places) eastbound about 1km to just past a height-of-land at a grass track, where the Sentier Frontalier turns left . Turned right and followed the grass track a few hundred meters to the Boundary Swath. The grass track continues (right) westbound on the Boundary, only overgrown vegetation to the east.
To the right about 10M (westbound) is a bump that is a contender for the highpoint, my GPS here read 45.25425, 71.19860. I walked westbound to check-out the first orange Survey Marker 483.16 (on the USA side).
A left turn on the Boundary Line, eastbound, leads 60M on a badly overgrown grass trail to the highpoint, a huge rock with an embedded geodetic Survey Marker "MO 483-9" on the highpoint, my GPS reading was 45.25395, 71.19772. There is limited views to the east.
My original plan was to follow the Boundary Swath eastbound to Boundary Monument 482, however it looked very rough with no sign of a track..... I'll have to restudy this one.
I returned the same way ...... 2.6km, 1 hour RT.
