Ascent Trip ReportFinishing up the NEHH, White Cap was #91 and Kennebago Divide #92. Went in from Bear Brook Road. Bear Brook Road is NOT open to the end. Two large double culverts about 100 yds apart have completely washed out, probably during snow melt this spring. This is at ~2200' elevation just before the logging road takes off to the left on your Delorme, a good 1.5 mi. from the TH, so tack on another 400' elevation gain and 3 mi. to your round trip. There were some mildly stressful moments even getting to the first wash out (I was in a AWD Forester, which also has good clearance), there is room to park and turn around at the first wash out. Also, Wiggle Brook Road is closed and blocked a couple of miles in where it runs up the west side of the Kennebago River. To get to BBR and upper Wiggle Brook Road continue on Lost Pond Road past the south end of Wiggle Brook to Kennebago River Road, then go north on KRR up the east side of the river for two or three miles to what appears to be a new bridge over the river and a Wiggle Brook Road sign. BBR turns right immediately after you cross the river.
White Cap was a breeze. At the end of the road head up old logging road straight ahead, then continue straight on herd path where road veers left. Obvious trail to cairn at col and on to summit. Back at col we headed on herd path towards K Divide, soon realized we were veering too far west and down, probably on herd path down to Porter Creek area. Veered south and reacquired top of ridge, not much of a path for a while but lots of random not very useful survey tape scattered about. After awhile path became apparent to non-descript viewless summit, then back down to car. 4 hrs. RT.
