Ascent Trip Report

It was October 25, 2018. It was my wife’s day to work at an urgent care facility as a nurse and I had the afternoon to myself. I contemplated making a quick ride up to Sassafras Mountain, the tallest summit in South Carolina. It is a drive up all the way to the summit via an access road off from Highway 178. It was a cloudy day and kind of damp. The summit itself is a construction site where an observation tower is under construction. It was only a 4 point summit but at the time 4 points was better than no points.
