Ascent Trip Report

This is a beautiful and well maintained trail. Easy to follow and a good grade. Heck of a drive in though. Recommend AWD or 4WD. Mostly for the ride out as it may be a challenge gaining traction with 2WD up the sharp steep switchbacks along King Peak Road between N Fork Bear Creek and Wilder Ridge Rd. The hike to Kings Peak is very nice. We did the lollipop route counter clockwise. A few other folks on the trail. Found a small rattler coiled in the rocks at the summit shelter/platform. If you don't mind a long drive in, this is a well worth it peak! Fantastic views from the summit. Shasta was a little obscured. Good view of the coast.
