Ascent Trip Report

An outstandingly scenic trail right from the start on the nice little trailhead parking lot off E. Iowa Street. Surely there is no place else that offers better views of Lake Chelan and the town than from along this trail.

Shortly before arriving back to the car, a troop of about 30 fire fighters were starting up the fall line trail for a training exercise. Ugh! It was much too hot then, especially carrying their heavy packs, plus a heavy axe. There appeared to be some good looking women amongst all the grunting guys, but they were all wearing their ugly heavy duty uniforms and hard hats.

Up at 3:10 a.m., left home at 4:15, left the trailhead from the nice little parking lot off of E. Iowa St. at 7:30. About 2.5 hours up, using the main trail, about 1.5 hours down using the much steeper fall line trail. Perhaps it's better to go up the fall line trail and down the main trail, if wanting to do both.

341.1 miles round trip driving.
