Ascent Trip Report

The Elk Mountain road would be a super rough drive, but made for a very pleasant hike. Unless you're really crunched for time, just park on FR-058 at the turnoff and hike the rest. It's only a 12 mile round trip, and the road portion of the hike sees very little traffic anyway. Super cool views up here! Caribou dominates to the south, and the Snake River Range looks impressive from the summit. The Tetons tower above them from behind, and there's a unique perspective of Moran, dominating its own part of the Teton skyline in a way you wouldn't expect from this distance. Easier access than expected to this worthy peak, and we had a great time of it all day.
