Ascent Trip Report

'Kaweah'--crow or raven cry (from Yokut)...can you hear it? I had wandered the headwaters of the Kaweah River's North, Marble, South, and East Forks, but until late June had neglected the upper reaches of the Middle Fork and its High Sierra Trail which connects the Central Valley to Mt. Whitney through Sequoia National Park via Kaweah Gap. Valhalla warrants the attention it gets, but although technical difficulties left me unable to snap any shots, I found my northern return route from near Elizabeth Pass via Lion Rock to be a favorite for scenery! Besides grand alpine climbs, visits to explore more around Triple Divide Peak, Eagle Scout Peak, and to make a return to the mighty Kaweah Range after a previous trip to visit awe inspiring Black Kaweah are already in mind.
