Ascent Trip Report

I've been wanting to finish this peak for sometime. My first attempt was on 5/29/11. Second was on 1/25/15. After seeing a couple recent reports and George Burgess's track, I sent an email to friends to see if anyone could join me. Julianne responded promptly and we scored the one day with supposedly good weather forecast during this week. We left the TH about 9am and made it to the Lanham Lake's outlet about 9:45am where I filtered a little water. We crossed the outlet which was a lot harder in previous times and circled the lake a little ways before heading up. The brushbash was a lot better than anticipated. It was actually nice to be able to pull on the abundant vegetation when we got on the steeper areas. Way fewer logs to crawl over than on 5/29/11 too. Some devil's club needed to be avoided, but not difficult. We made it to the ridge around 11am and had a snack. The forecast was partly sunny so was surprised we were in the clouds for most of the day. Occasionally the clouds would blow by and we would have a quick glance of our destination, but no distant views. We were able to avoid the snow getting to the notch when the easy rock scramble started. On the summit at 1:30pm where we stayed for about 1/2 hr before departing. We were fortunate to get some views on our descent. Return trip was uneventful and back at our car at 5pm. Quick stop at Sultan Cafe for a breakfast sandwich helped us avoid the rush hour traffic home. Was a good day and very glad I was finally able to nab this peak.
