Ascent Trip ReportPer previous reports, I was ready ready for this one. Rather than ascend from Locust Knob below, I
parked at Bullhead Gap and the made the best out of the MST until I saw a faint trail on the north side of the summit. All of the reports are correct and I am likely to have been dumb enough to try this in summer. Knarley, weedy and well worth a machete bushwhacking, the summit afforded no views and no respite for a hot, sweating and bleeding hiker. Why is it that some of the least significant peaks prove to be physically toughest. The HP appeared draped in a canopy of vines and briars. Thank goodness I kept my long sleeves on from Snowball Mountain! |
