Ascent Trip Report

E County Line Rd has not been graded for the year, yet. Lots of erosion ruts. Subie made it to the Paradise-Choop saddle but she sometimes had one wheel in the air and a couple of times I had to fill ruts with logs and rocks to make it across. A snowbank blocked the road just beyond the saddle. If you go to the south from the saddle, the road connects to a rough bypass that goes back to the lookout spur. I chose to walk from the saddle. About 150 ft below the summit, a large snowbank blocked the road. It looks like it will be at least two weeks before that melts out. The snow was soft and I climbed over it and continued to the closed lookout. The Hayfork Bally LO told me later that Cal Fire would have Choop staffed now, but they were waiting for the snowbank to melt.
