Ascent Trip Report

Between the mosquitoes and blackflies which are unseasonable awful this June and the nasty bushwhack I can not rate this more than a 2 today but the good news is this......

I beat Cliff Young up a 300 foot prominence peak in the area finally! Ha! Gotcha Cliff! It is not hard to find the peak or find parking and it is on good public lands and it has a nice chunk of prominence - all good things indeed. But there are no views and the bushwhacking is for those that love to scratch these 300 foot threshold peaks off their lists. I was hoping to find a great line of broad-leaf trees to plunge through but if I was not fighting tightly spaced conifers up an unstable slope of moss and rock, I was in very dense striped maples and beech. In any event. An easy drive and a short bushwhack - I was up and down in 20 minutes. I taped the summit tree in pink ribbon.

For driving instructions.....take the well signed forest roads past the parking lot for Big Moose Mountain. There is another signed junction after that and stay right. When you get to the junction of two more forest roads at a wye and another sign, I chose right as the road comes close to the foot of the peak. There is a pull out immediately on your left where I parked and slogged uphill.
