Ascent Trip Report

attached driving track from pavement, although gmaps gets you pretty much there. the main forest road is generally OK, but it does require clearance, and good tires.

i recommend parking at the point i note "park here" ... i continued past that taking the left fork, and it's a steep road which narrows and then eventually ends at a large fallen tree. no place to turn around. that was only 0.1mi from the summit so i just walked the rest. i got to practice reversing down a narrow steep road. that's always fun.

the summit is encrusted with manzanita, and the high point is a manzanita no-go zone. it was only a few feet from me but i didn't feel like ripping my pants or pack trying to push through. the lookout is long gone... views are limited.

the road is pretty much only a narrow trail at the summit now -- so even if you tried the right fork at my waypoint you'd probably not get anywhere closer.

i suspect you could combine this with yuba county high point, but the road might become worse between the two, not sure.
