Ascent Trip ReportParked at the jct of Hubbard Brook Rd and gated 7,8,9 Road. Walked up the gated road two tenths and turned right onto Weir 7 Rd, following it another three tenths to its end at a weir built on a small brook. From there I followed a herd path for accessing the numerous experiments within the HBEF for about half a mile to an opening with a small installation of some sort. Here I turned left up another path which ascended in the correct general direction but soon leveled out and contoured vs climbed. I turned right uphill and did the only real bushwhacking of the hike, which lasted all of a quarter of a mile, until I hit yet another herd path which led to me another installation a hundred yards from the summit. Given what I later learned, it is very possible the herd path I turned off could have looped around and gone to the top. It's always interesting walking around these woods and stumbling across all the work being done-feels a little Area 51'ish. Note also, I saw two game cameras in my travels so if that's too Big Brothery for you, best to find a different route.
