Ascent of Sahale Peak on 2019-05-12
|Date:||Sunday, May 12, 2019|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||8680 ft / 2645 m|
Ascent Trip ReportSkied up the Quien Sabe Glacier (approached from the Cascade Pass trailhead, which saved about 400' of elevation gain from the Boston Basin Trailhead). Bivied at the Boston-Sahale Col at 8500'; easily the most amazing campsite I ever had.
In the morning attempted Boston but turned back; the class 4 traverse is still snow covered/corniced and is impossible to protect. Packed up and did a carryover to the top of Sahale; summit ridge involved a steep snow traverse but wasn't too terrible. Did one rappel off the summit block, then skied all the way back to the car.
