Ascent Trip Report

attaching short road spur driving track. although this road is on USGS it isn't on USFS, and gmaps has no idea about it (gmaps instead has some other closed road north of here). regardless gmaps will get you to the start of this track. a little clearance is useful, most vehicles could make it most of the way up this road.

i followed greg gerlach's track... steep but otherwise a great use trail. after noodling around on the summit a few minutes (signing the very fresh register) i wandered SE along the ridge on the inviting grass-covered ridge. about 700' away from the summit is a fantastic view of kendrick, humphreys and agassiz, worth the short trek.

fortunately i had read craig and bill's reports and i didn't attempt to drop down further into the canyon after the viewpoint. i didn't really feel like spending forever crawling over deadfall. too bad though, because it could make a nice loop hike.
