Ascent Trip Report#74 on the NH Fire Tower list. The hardest part about this one was locating it. The White Mountain Guide gives directions for where to find it on Rt. 142 but no details. The details are that the private road hikers walk to reach Mt. Agassiz is disguised as a driveway. It is immediately adjacent to Mtn View Lane, has a mailbox, and looks like someone's house. A sign in the driveway warned not to trespass with vehicles, but a torn paper sign next to it said "enjoy the view". We walked in cautiously, passing some storage sheds, until we walked through the gate and finally found the sign welcoming hikers. It's a short, easy climb up the road, which is alternately paved and gravel. As the road approaches the buildings at the top, there is a sign which gives history of the mountain and directs visitors to stay away from the private residence. The summit has an open lawn and a bench, with excellent views of the Franconia and Twin Ranges.
