Ascent Trip ReportThis is a nice trail that loops around a beaver pond which is quite scenic and you can see the mountain standing behind. Today, the water was flooded over the dam and onto the trail. So it was sloshy-slosh for awhile through water and mud about ankle deep guessing where the trail was. But easy to guess. The remainder of the trail was very easy to follow. Some patches of deep mud. Wildflowers dotted the sides of the trail (trillium, spring beauties, trout lilies, a few Dutchman's Breeches, Clintonia). When reaching the top (I won't call it "summit" because GPS true summit differs), there were multiple white bags of rock with some rocks in decorative arrangement (?). Looks like some work is going to be done. So this spot appears to be "the summit" as it is the largest overlook, with another one (or two? can't recall, was too busy trying to figure out the actual summit; no geodetic marker to be found) further up the trail towards where GPS elevation put the true summit (a spot on the trail). Excellent views from the lookouts, including Whiteface.
