Ascent Trip Report

See GPS track. Ken had seen a new road that connects to the old road 101 on the aerial photos, and wanted to try it instead of the shorter Ken Jones route with the bad slide alder overgrowth. It made the hike much longer, but it was easy walking except for the overgrowth on 101. I wouldn't necessarily recommend this route because it is so much longer, but if you want to avoid the dense overgrowth, this is a great alternative. We had lots of snow on the road up high, and of course on the ascent from the road to the south ridge. Don't follow our uphill track to the ridge because we wound up on a gendarme that couldn't be downclimbed without undue danger. Ken Jones' track and my downhill track top out at the lowest saddle on the ridge.
