Ascent Trip Report

Trail was covered with old leaves and only a bit muddy at lower elevations. Went to the lookout (short dirt path to the left at about 2.3 miles), which was a quick easy semi-scramble up. Total white out/no views but I can imagine it's spectacular when clear. It got muddier upon ascent towards the ridge, which is marked with cairns as the blue trail markers disappeared. Completely bypassed what was apparently the summit, along with many other; we kept going about .25 mile. They kept going, I don't know to where because it looked like a huge drop off with no trail whatsoever ?? I turned back because AllTrails showed we missed the summit. Based on elevation, found what I assumed was the summit. I couldn't find a geodetic marker, but read later there is one (maybe it's missing now?). Found a geocache on descent, then missed the trail and bushwhacked back to the car, only to discover I emerged on the opposite side of the road. Oh boy. A really interesting trail with varying terrain and will go back on a clear day to see the views.

Edit: I was told there are two summits; the one I went to is the first summit; the second summit with geomarker and a huge cairn is further away. Researched and found a trail, photos, etc. So did I have a successful ascent?
